Sportful and the Michele Scarponi Foundation come together on the occasion of World Bicycle Day, to make a real difference. Sportful will donate 20% of the proceeds from its e-commerce on June 3rd and 4th to promoting road safety education.
On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, Sportful will support the Michele Scarponi Foundation, an ONLUS created to promote road safety, to commemorate the life of one of the most beloved cyclists in history.
The Foundation that bears Michele's name works by creating and financing projects aimed at educating people about road safety, respect for the rules and sustainable mobility with a view to protecting the most vulnerable road users.
Marco Scarponi, General Secretary of the Foundation, commented:
“To make the streets safe for all road users, we need a change of culture. This means redistributing road space, starting from the most vulnerable users (children, pedestrians, cyclists, the disabled), and demanding greater controls to "change the current paradigm", putting an end to the dominance of cars in our transport systems. To make our road transport safe and sustainable, we must improve the level of road safety awareness amongst road users of all categories. This can only be achieved by defining road safety values and then disseminating, defending, teaching and promoting them wholeheartedly."
The partnership will enable the Foundation to continue its School Project, which aims to make students aware of the importance of respecting the rules, life on the road and sustainable mobility. In fact, the project aims to make students more aware of the importance of behaving correctly on the road, both for their own safety and that of others, and to encourage students to consider road safety education as a fundamental aspect of civic education and civil coexistence.
Sportful's commitment will take the form of a donation of 20% of the proceeds from e-commerce sales during World Bicycle Day weekend. Alessio Cremonese, CEO of Manifattura Valcismon, said, “We are honoured to collaborate with the Michele Scarponi Foundation. Coming into direct contact with youngsters and educating future generations means preparing for the future and giving concrete shape to the values we believe in, such as commitment, sacrifice and respect."
