Cold air, warm hearts: riding through Berlin with Paolo Bettini
A social ride by Sportful with Fuerst Wiacek

Saturday, October 18th — early morning, in the chill of Berlin. The city was waking up under a pale light, the kind that makes you breathe deeper before getting on the bike. In Kreuzberg, a small group of riders gathered — bikes gleaming, smiles bright despite the cold. Among them stood Paolo Bettini, two-time World Champion and Olympic gold medalist, ready to lead a day that promised more than just kilometers.
Organized by Sportful, with the support of Fuerst Wiacek, the ride brought together cyclists from across Berlin and beyond to explore the city’s most iconic places — and to share stories, experiences, and a few laughs along the way.
BERLIN IN MOTION
The group set off from Kreuzberg, rolling easily through the quiet streets toward the Brandenburg Gate. It was one of those crisp mornings where every pedal stroke feels alive. Berlin moved around us — open spaces, calm avenues, the hum of a city with history in every corner.
Paolo rode side by side with the group, sharing anecdotes from his racing days: how he learned to read the road, what it means to suffer, and why cycling still feels new, even after a lifetime on two wheels.
The route passed through Berlin Tempelhof, Tiergarten, and along the Reichstagsgebäude — a ride through time and memory, where every stop was a chance to look around, smile, and appreciate the rhythm of the city.

A Toast to friendship
The finish wasn’t marked by a banner, but by the warm welcome at Fuerst Wiacek’s taproom. Inside, the group thawed out over craft beers, laughter, and shared reflections. Bettini spoke about life after racing — the love for discovery, the joy of riding without a stopwatch, and the simple magic of being part of a community on two wheels.
It wasn’t a press conference; it was a conversation — one that left everyone inspired, connected, and reminded of why we ride in the first place.
