SPORTFUL X FLANDERS CLASSICS

From Johan Museeuw to Fabian Cancellara, from Peter Van Peteghem to Peter Sagan

Timeless athletes and champions who have made the history of our brand and who, at the same time, have written important pages in Flanders and in the history of cycling.

Today we want to celebrate all this with a partnership of absolute value together with Flanders Classic: 6 races, one big common thread. Tradition!

1. OMLOOP HET NIEUWSBLAD

The first race of the Flanders Classic circuit and the first opening event of the northern campaign in Belgium.

The first edition of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad dates back to 1945, as the first response to the Tour of Flanders organized by the Belgian magazine “Het Nieuwsblad”. Hence the full name of the race.

The distinctive feature of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is represented by the Grammont Wall; one of the most famous cobblestones in Flanders with walls of up to 20%.

2. GENT-WEVELGEM

Gent-Wevelgem

Born in 1934 as a race reserved for amateurs, the Gent-Wevelgem is the classic of the north best suited to the sprinters of the peloton and - starting from 2022 - became part of the Flanders Classic circuit.

The race course crosses the entire territory of Flanders, from the East to the West, also crossing over into France. Over the years there have been many sprinters who have won it; from Mario Cipollini to Peter Sagan, through Eddy Merckx and many others.

3. DWARS DOOR VLAANDEREN

The Dwars Door Vlaanderen is the race that most of all crosses the famous territory of Flanders to get to the city of Waregem.

Before officially joining the UCI World Tour calendar in 2017, the race was included in the continental calendar and - in its early years - was intended as a stage race named "Dwars Door België". Among the winners also Eddy Merckx and Johan Museeuw.

4. RONDE VAN VLAANDEREN

Ronde Van Vlaanderen

The most famous, awaited and coveted race of the entire Flanders Classic circuit.

The first edition of the Ronde Van Vlaanderen dates back to 1913 with a route of 330 kilometers, crossing all the most characteristic places in Belgium. The Ronde Van Vlaanderen is famous for its cobbled walls such as the Koppenberg, the Paterberg and the Old Kwaremont. One of the most legendary races of the entire international cycling calendar.

5. SCHELDEPRIJS

The oldest race in the entire northern Belgian countryside; its first edition - with arrival and departure from Antwerp - dates back to 1907. Before the First World War.

The name of the race echoes that of the Scheldt river which crosses the entire province of Antwerp. It is the connecting event between Ronde Van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix.

One of the youngest races of the entire Flanders Classic circuit; was born in 1961 and saw champions such as Eddy Merckx, Roger De Vlaeminck and Oscar Freire (with three consecutive victories) triumph.

The route, characterized by 16 côtes, crosses the entire province of Brabant.

THE “FLANDERS CLASSICS" COLLECTION

The new collaboration between Flanders Classics and Sportful will also feature a collection dedicated exclusively to the Flanders Classics circuit and, in addition, a unique jersey dedicated to the Ronde Van Vlaanderen.

Characteristic features of both lines are respectively the 6 colors of the various events present within the circuit and the Lion of Flanders, a symbol that has always distinguished the Belgian geographical region.
